We’re creating futures at DDC
28 April, 2010
If you’re interested in knowing what’s the role of the designer, the short answer is ‘many things’. And in the future it will be ‘many more things’ as technological, social and environmental changes impact us. As a contribution to the exhibition 10+ Design Forecast Pleks was asked to come up with our answer to the question of the designer’s role in the future. The result can now be seen at the exhibition at the Danish Design Centre.
10+ Design Forecast takes stock of Danish design in the first ten years of the new millennium and examines which design trends have a big role to play in the years to come.

Pleks designs new railway clock
21 April, 2010
Pleks has designed a new clock for stations and platforms in close collaboration with Banedanmark. The design has its point of departure in the danish design tradition though it radically changes the railway clock as we have known it since the seventies and is supporting the strategy of a more modern railway. The face of the clock is dark grey, with white strokes and arms. The arm showing the seconds is yellow. Colors, form and details are optimized to bring forward a distinct, clear and readable design. The clock is lightened from the front with LED lights used in a new way that has been specially developed for this project. Banedanmark is currently replacing the railway clocks at 115 stations as a part of a large updating project of the danish railway infrastructure.
