Problem
These days it is not enough to look good and sound great – you need to be part of a larger system that adds value to your product. Like Apple’s products. As part of their response, B&O launched a unique and ambitious plan for all screen-based interaction to ensure a optimal reading experience across platforms, while keeping the B&O feel.
Solution
We developed a unique custom type for B&O. It’s a large family in three weights and it so far covers over 72 different languages. It’s specially drawn to match the B&O brand and optimized for screen. While the font was created with screen in mind, ensuring maximum legibility, it also works elegantly as a corporate font for print use.
Result
The project was shortlisted to a Creative circle award 2009. As an extension of the font project we developed a range of custom icons for the menu system on screen. The BeoFont Project was done in collaboration with London-based type specialists Dalton Maag. We developed the concept and drew the first full set of characters and then Dalton Maag extended and finalized the character set.
