DCDR
Identifying the essence of danish design research

Problem
The Danish Centre of Design Research recently changed management and purpose. The redefined centre needed a new identity to support this change and strengthen their image towards internal and external stakeholders, as well as being more internationally appealing.

Solution
The DCDR secretariat and management were engaged in the design solution creation. The centre’s new strategy informed the new identity, which exressed both academic research and design. Pleks designed a new set of letters to create a logo that holds the initials of the name: DCDR – changing the official name into English (instead of the former “CDF Center for designforskning”). The logo communicates the core of DCDR: to undertake and support research and increase design knowledge – and to show a design edge, quality and aesthetic sense.

Result
The client has a strong sense of purpose, idea and involvement, which secures a very fruitful life for the design creation, development and expression. The logo unfolds into different medias and is actively used by DCDR as a strategic business tool in their everyday work. The design was launched in March 2008.
